The Members, As Characters: Inside ENHYPEN's ENCHIN

ENHYPEN went almost six years without an official character. ENCHIN is what happened when the members finally sat down and designed their own, and the wild part is how much each one actually looks like the member behind it.

The six-year wait, finally over

Here is something that surprises a lot of newer ENGENE: for nearly six years, ENHYPEN did not have an official character. There were dessert dolls. There was a whole vampire-doll era that leaned into the group's mythology. But there was never a proper character line the way other groups had, the kind you clip onto a bag and carry through your day. Fans noticed, and they asked for it, often.

On 7 May 2026, that finally changed. ENHYPEN dropped an illustration across their official channels introducing ENCHIN, a set of six characters built one-to-one around the members. The name itself tells you the intent: ENCHIN means "ENGENE's friend". These are not mascots designed to sell you something. They are little companions meant to slip into your everyday and quietly hand you a bit of luck and comfort when you need a laugh.

The detail that makes ENCHIN worth caring about, beyond the fact that they are adorable, is that the members participated directly. Not just a quick approval at the end. ENHYPEN were involved from the concept stage all the way through to the design, and BELIFT LAB documented it in a "Making of Log" series on the official YouTube channel, with the first episode following Jungwon, Jay, and Jake as they shaped their own characters.

Because of that, each member's personality got reborn as their character's special ability. That is the thread running through every official write-up: the powers are not generic cute-character traits, they are little portraits of who these six actually are. Here is the full set.

Reading the characters: what each member tucked in

WONCHU is the face of the line, and it fits. Jungwon's character is a cheese cat with a soft, clean look that mirrors his own, and the jelly-paw handshake is a leader-as-caretaker move: a small gesture that quietly makes the room feel better. If you have watched Jungwon hold the group together, the read is obvious.

NoxStar is a black cat, and the guitar-energy ability ties straight back to Jay's real love of playing, with the "Nox" plus "Star" naming capturing the black-cat-meets-star design in one word. Beyond that, ENGENE have been having a lovely time piecing the little details together: a heart-shaped spot on the neck, a tiny one-corner smirk, the headcanon that it basically lives in a recording studio and runs on guitar, potatoes and star-shaped candy. None of that is gospel from an official profile so much as the fandom reading the design and falling for it, but honestly that is half the fun, and it is very Jay either way.

JAKEY and SnoWe sit as a lovely contrast: Jake's energetic, courage-giving dog against Sunghoon's gentle white baekgu, the one who turns up with warmth when you are having a flat day. KISHU carries Sunoo's whole brand of loyalty, the friend who would do anything for you, no questions asked.

And then there is PU-NI. Ni-ki went the strangest, most original route of the six: a puma crossed with a duck. Fans immediately flagged it as the most "what is going on here" of the set, in the best way, and its power is to bring luck so you land on the right choice. There is something very maknae about being the small, odd, lucky charm of the group.

The ENCHIN Inside Your Pocket line

Fourteen items, all built around the bag-charm concept. The Face Cushion is the hero piece, but the keyrings and the lightstick cover are where the "carry me everywhere" idea really lands. Pre-order is open at SOOJIB until 25 May, with release in early June.

Six years is a long time to wait for a character line. ENCHIN was worth it, mostly because the members built it themselves and you can feel it in every small detail, from a jelly-paw handshake to a duck that is somehow also a puma. Pre-order is open at SOOJIB until 25 May.
