IU and Byeon Woo Seok Step Into a Royal Contract Marriage in “Perfect Crown”
MBC’s new romance drama “Perfect Crown” has unveiled its first stills, teasing a high-stakes love story set in an alternate, modern-day Korea under a constitutional monarchy. The series is slated to premiere in 2026 on MBC and Disney+.
IU stars as Sung Hee Joo, a brilliant, ambitious chaebol heiress who has everything except noble status. Determined to break through the ceiling that her class label imposes, she chooses a bold solution: a contract marriage.
Opposite her, Byeon Woo Seok plays Grand Prince Yi Wan, the second son of the royal family. Despite his birthright, he lives in the shadows—never to outshine the crown prince—masking a fiercely guarded heart beneath a life of restraint.
As two people on opposite sides of power and privilege collide, their pact becomes a turning point—forcing them to confront old wounds, challenge the rules that bind them, and awaken emotions neither has dared to name.
“Perfect Crown” is helmed by director Park Joon Hwa (What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, the Alchemy of Souls series) and written by Yu Ain, whose script earned Excellence honors at the 2022 MBC Drama Script Competition.
