[Stage Report] BTS ARIRANG World Tour Goyang Night One: The Show That Couldn't Be Rained Out

The Show
That Couldn't
Be Rained Out

40,000 ARMY in purple raincoats. 25 songs in the downpour. BTS's first full stadium show in nearly four years. Goyang was never going to be ordinary.

The tickets sold out before most of us had a chance to blink. Eighty thousand in the queue — in Korea, on fast internet — and still no luck. So instead, Goyang Stadium lit up without us, and we watched the whole thing unfold through fan cams, live tweets, and a very loud playthrough of ARIRANG on repeat.

Here's the thing, though. Even from outside, even through a phone screen, 9 April 2026 felt like something. BTS's first full world tour in nearly four years. 40,000 people inside, hundreds more standing in the rain outside the gates just to hear the muffled sound of Hooligan through the stadium walls. That's not a concert. That's an event.

🌧 The Rain

The Rain
Didn't Stand a Chance

Goyang got hit with heavy, persistent rain all evening. The kind that soaks through everything, turns stages into slip hazards, and makes outdoor concerts a genuine test of commitment. The stadium was full anyway. Purple raincoats everywhere. ARMY Bombs held aloft in the downpour.

Fans without tickets stood outside for the entire show. They couldn't see anything. They stayed regardless.

"We were so worried about the rain... but what mattered was seeing you." — Jimin, completely drenched, on stage at Goyang Stadium

Suga acknowledged the downpour. J-Hope called the night unforgettable and begged for louder screams. V, being V, pretended to swim through the rain during SWIM. The members didn't just perform through it. They made it part of the show.

🎤 The Opening

The Opening
Was Not Subtle

No warm-up. No slow build. BTS walked out and opened with Hooligan — dark, dystopian, slicing beats — and the stadium lost itself completely. When the track played during soundcheck, the fans outside the venue who could barely make out the sound through the walls still erupted.

Aliens followed, then a sharp percussive remix of Run BTS leaning hard into their rap roots. From there, five tracks from ARIRANG made their live debut in a single night — they don't know 'bout us, Merry Go Round (with an extended outro that had people posting about it for hours afterwards), Come Over, Please, and Into the Sun.

This was a deliberate setlist. BTS weren't here to play the greatest hits package. They wanted the opening night to be a statement about who they are now, in 2026, after everything. The ARIRANG tracks dominated Act 1 almost entirely — and it landed exactly as intended.

🎬 The Moment

Couldn't Stop Replaying

🎬 Jin during I Need U

Defied the staff. Walked into the crowd.

I Need U returned for the first time since 2021. That alone had people crying before the encore was halfway through. Then Jin left the stage mid-performance and walked directly into the crowd. A staff member was apparently caught on camera warning him it could be dangerous. Jin assessed the situation, decided ARMY had it handled, and kept going.

One camera angle looks perfectly calm. Another shows the barrier absolutely swarming. He navigated it with the kind of easy confidence that only comes from genuinely trusting the people in front of you. The clip hit 60,000 likes and millions of views within hours. It was the only thing on the timeline for the rest of the night.

Did Taehyung
Get an Eyebrow Piercing?

Fan cameras during the show picked up what appears to be a new eyebrow piercing on V. Near-impossible to spot from the stands, but the fan cams don't miss much. Jungkook apparently clocked the reaction from the crowd and pointed it out to nearby fans on the catwalk — which did not help things calm down.

Real or concert look? Nobody has confirmed either way yet. What is confirmed: "TAEHYUNG EYEBROW PIERCING" was trending before the encore started.

★ The Returns

Not Today. I Need U.
Back After 2021.

Two songs absent from BTS setlists since 2021 both came back on the same night.

Not Today (Remix) hit Act 2 with lasers cutting across the stage, dancers with fluorescent lights, and pyrotechnics that reportedly had people screaming before the chorus. By the end, there were spires of fire going up around the stage. Forty thousand people shouting "NOT TODAY" in the rain — the fan accounts couldn't find words for it.

Then I Need U in the encore. Quieter. Slower. More weight to it. And that's when Jin walked into the crowd.

🎆 The Production

360° and
Built for the Moment

The in-the-round stage meant every section of the crowd got their moment with BTS performing directly towards them. Multiple catwalks extended from the main platform, dancers formed formations referencing the South Korean flag, and the production shifted dramatically between acts — atmospheric and dark in Act 1, then explosive by the time Fire arrived.

Choreography was less rigidly synchronised than previous tours, which some fans noted online. Given the rain and slippery stage conditions, that reads as a sensible call. What it gave up in precision it made up for in rawness and individual energy. RM spoke about SWIM from the stage — explaining that its lyrics came from the confusion of post-military life. "We want to just keep swimming." It landed.

Into the Sun (Reprise) closed the show with fireworks. The fan cam footage looked absurd in the best possible way.
