Chapter 01The chess board opens again

In January 2025, XLOV made their debut as a pawn on the chess board. The smallest piece, the weakest, the one most often sacrificed. The 'genderless' concept they came in with was a clear provocation in the K-pop landscape, and from the very start, that's exactly what a pawn is meant to be.

One year and five months later, that pawn has walked all the way to the end of the board. By the rules of chess, when a pawn reaches the final rank, it can be reborn as any piece it chooses — queen, bishop, knight, or rook. In chess terminology, this is called 'the promotion of a pawn'.

On 27 May 2026, XLOV return from that final rank as gods.

Chapter 02Two meanings inside 'I,God'

'I,God' isn't simply a first-person declaration of "I, a god." The title carries two layers.

First, it's a declaration that the incomplete love XLOV have shown since debut — its pain and its flaws — has finally been completed from within, reaching the form of a 'god' that no one can approach. Through rebirth, the pawn has become a god, and now they guide the path for those still wearing the face of their own past.

Second, the message that this whole story might not be XLOV's alone — it might also belong to EVOL, and to everyone else who has followed along. The unloved, the overlooked, the smallest pawns — perhaps all of us could have been gods, all along. And XLOV, godlike, were quietly aware of that possibility from the start.

"Even the smallest, weakest existence, once it reaches the final point, can be reborn as anything it chooses." — XLOV, I,God Concept Statement

Chapter 03Meeting the four again

XLOV are a four-member group. Four members of different nationalities, different languages, different identities — gathered together. 'Genderless' was the group's banner from the very first day, and this is why.

Wumuti
Leader · Producer
Uyghur, China
Rui
Vocal · Performer
Taipei, Taiwan
Hyun
Main Vocal
South Korea
Haru
Maknae · Vocal
Japan

Leader Wumuti continues to shape the group's musical identity as producer on this album. Reports indicate his hands are on five of the six tracks on 'I,God'. Members Hyun and Haru step in as lyricists, putting the group's narrative into their own words.

Chapter 04Tracklist — six chapters, two units

'I,God' is a mini album of six tracks (plus one instrumental). Two things stand out. First, the album carries the group's first ever unit songs — two of them at once. Second, while each track lands in a different sonic register, they're all tied together by a single narrative: rebirth into a god.

# Track Vibe
01 法則: THE RULES Jazz-based intro
02 SERVE ★ Title Groovy bass, colour-shifting
03 Extancy (Wumuti × Rui) Tech-house · Hyperpop
04 BACK 2 BACK 808 bass · Oriental textures
05 HIPS (Hyun × Haru) Punch drums · Energetic hip-hop
06 Masterpiece EDM-driven pop
07 SERVE (Instrumental)

The intro '法則: THE RULES' sets the scene with a quiet jazz bass, reminding the listener of the rules of chess. The title track 'SERVE' follows with a groovy bass that shifts in colour, expressing what it means for the one who has been promoted from pawn to god to once again 'serve' themselves to the world.

Of the two unit tracks, 'Extancy' pairs Wumuti and Rui over a tech-house beat layered with hyperpop, while 'HIPS' brings Hyun and Haru together on an energetic hip-hop number powered by bass and punch drums. The two units sit on opposite musical poles, and that contrast is the most interesting design choice on the album.

Chapter 05The intro trailer dropped first

Ahead of the full comeback schedule, XLOV released a trailer for the intro track '法則: THE RULES'. It's short, but it compresses the entire mood of the album — dark, ritualistic, with an oriental texture running underneath.

An oriental motif laid over a jazz bass — a sonic bridge that connects the intro to the 808 bass of 'BACK 2 BACK' later in the tracklist. A musical idea introduced in the intro is recovered in a mid-album track. Proof that XLOV treat a mini album not as a collection of songs, but as a single narrative unit.

Chapter 06Four versions — I · G · O · D

'I,God' releases in four covers plus a 1 SET option. Each cover takes one letter from the album title — I VER. · G VER. · O VER. · D VER. — and the 1 SET option (4ea / All Cover) bundles all four together. You only spell 'I,GOD' once you collect all four. The collector hook is built into the design itself.

Package contents

Each version contains the following.

  • Digipack cover · 165 × 165mm
  • Photobook · 160 × 160mm / 48p
  • CD disc · 1 piece
  • Photocard · 55 × 85mm / 2 random from 8 designs
  • Mirror message card · 90 × 150mm / 1 random from 4 designs

First Press Only

On top of that, first-press copies come with a Gold Card (55 × 85mm / 4 designs) and a Silver Card (55 × 85mm / 8 designs). Once first-press stock runs out, these don't come back, so collectors will want to lock theirs in at the pre-order stage.

Chapter 07SOOJIB POB — Apple Music & Dear my muse

For the 'I,God' pre-order, SOOJIB is running two platform POBs side by side — Apple Music POB and Dear my muse POB. Both POBs cover all four covers plus the 1 SET option, so you can match your favourite version with your preferred POB.

POBs are usually released in limited quantities, and once the first wave is gone, only the standard pre-order remains. One POB pick gets you the full pawn-to-god narrative in hand, so for EVOL, there's not much reason to wait around.

Chapter 08SPECIAL PACK — built for collectors

On top of the standard pre-order and the POB options, SOOJIB has also launched the SPECIAL PACK for 'I,God'. Priced at £45.00, it's a separate package built apart from the I · G · O · D cover line-up.

One important detail — the SPECIAL PACK pre-order closes on 25 May 2026, one day later than the standard versions (24 May). If you missed the four-cover window, the SPECIAL PACK gives you one more chance. For collectors, picking up both the standard line-up and the SPECIAL PACK is a combination worth considering.
