Ji Chang Wook and Imada Mio Team Up for Korea–Japan Romance “Merry Berry Love”
CJ ENM and Japan’s Nippon TV are joining forces on a cross-border romance series, tentatively titled “Merry Berry Love,” set for release via Disney+ and Nippon TV.
Set on a secluded Japanese island, the story follows Korean space planner Lee Yoo Bin—whose once-promising career has crashed—and Japanese strawberry farmer Shirahama Karin. Their unlikely meeting sparks a slow-blooming connection framed by small-town warmth and scenic countryside.
Ji Chang Wook takes on Lee Yoo Bin, while rising Japanese star Imada Mio plays Shirahama Karin.
The drama is helmed by director Kim Soo Jung of the buzzy BL hit Semantic Error, with a script by Lee Jae Yoon (The Divorce Insurance), signaling a polished, character-driven approach to contemporary romance.
According to CJ ENM, the project is designed to bridge languages and audiences, delivering a feel-good, globally accessible love story.
With an A-list pairing and a proven creative team, “Merry Berry Love” is poised to be a sweet spot for fans of cross-cultural romance dramas.
